Dear Parents,

Last week we shared with you an exciting opportunity to participate in our fall school reading event: One School, One Book. So far we have received donations from 130 students for a total of $1,300. We still need $1,100 more towards our goal of $2,400 so that we will be able to purchase a book for each child and his or her family at the Day School.

For $10, each family will receive a copy of the book. We will also be able to support all of the fun activities we have planned for our big book reveal. At this age having the opportunity to bond with your child over reading is priceless. Of course there are many other fun ways to connect with your children. The cost for an adult and child at the Tyngsborough AMC cinema is $23.00. Day passes for the water park at Great Wolf Lodge in Fitchburg cost $100 for an adult and child. One session of mini golf at Kimballs here in Westford costs $22.00 for you and your child.

Please consider donating just $10 so we can meet our goal and provide everyone at the Day School with a book. We promise this opportunity will be worth every cent.

Day School PTO
The Day School PTO hopes you will join us for this year's first monthly Open PTO meeting:~ Tuesday, October 17th between 7:00pm-8:30pm.

There will be coffee, tea, sweet treats, and conversation that covers:

  • PTO Introductions
  • Important updates on Day School PTO activities
  • What the PTO is currently working on and where would we welcome your help!
  • The long view: What's coming up later in the 2017-2018 PTO event calendar
  • Open discussion: Your ideas and questions on PTO topics such as Arts and Enrichment and Day School community events
We'll start at 7:00pm, but please feel free to drop in any time between 7:00pm-8:30pm.
Meeting Location: Day School Library

Volunteers Needed!
For parents who would like to~volunteer to~help with the Miller/Day Halloween Party~coming up on October 28th, we have a sign up genius link to make it super easy!  Some jobs require a simple poster or design (tic-tac-toe), and some jobs are 30 min. of supervising the hallways or the party rooms during the event. Easy and FUN!!  Thank you!!

Safe Routes to School
We still need 3 parent volunteers for each third grade class to help run our Pedestrian Safety program on Tuesday, October 24. Please contact your child's teacher ASAP to participate.

October Shining Stars
Each month, staff at the Day School have the opportunity to nominate students for STAR certificates in one of five categories for upholding the Day School Code of Conduct: Respect, Responsibility, Participation, Communication, and Improvement. Here are October's Shining Stars:

Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser
The Day School is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for families in need right here in Westford. We will be collecting spare change throughout the month of October to support these families. The top classroom collectors will have the opportunity to sign a 2x4 board used in the construction of the homes. Students in the top classroom will be chosen by lottery to participate in the home dedication. Get rid of all of that spare change and make a difference in someoneĆ­s life!
